MUSICALLY FED ROCKS LOLLAPALOOZA 2023

Phoenix-Based Non-Profit Completes Two Weeks of Repurposing

5,000+ Meals from Festival for Distribution to Chicago Community Organizations

(Chicago, IL – 8/10/2023) Musically Fed today announced that their teams of volunteers have rescued several thousand pounds of unused artist/staff/crew catering and concessions excess – including load-in days, performances, and post-festival operations – equaling more than 5,000 meals for distribution to Chicago area agencies. Now in their third straight year of partnership with C3 Presents and Lollapalooza, the Phoenix-based organization is celebrated for mobilizing the music industry in the fight against hunger by working with artists, promoters, management, and venues to donate unused backstage meals, as well as VIP and artist catering, to community organizations nationwide that feed veterans and people facing homelessness and food insecurity.

“Over the past 14 days we’ve made over 42 deliveries to more than a dozen agencies throughout Cook County,” says Musically Fed co-founder Maria Brunner, “and we’re still on the ground repurposing meals during crew tear-down of the event. We’ve now provided over 470,000 meals to people in need across America, and our growth has been nothing short of miraculous. We grateful to again share our vision with everyone at Lollapalooza, C3 Presents and Lakeside Catering, and encourage fans to get involved in addressing food insecurity and sustainability in their own communities. Music feeds the soul. We feed the hungry.”

“Musically Fed has delivered enough fresh and nutritious food to feed dinner to our present number of guests for the entire week,” says Belinda Brooks, Procurement Coordinator for Pacific Garden Mission, one of the largest homeless shelters in Chicago. “None of this would be possible without the work of Maria and her team. It is a pleasure to work with an organization that understands food insecurity and are doing their part to help reduce it.”

“Musically Fed is an amazing organization that does incredible work to help feed the hungry and make a difference in Chicago,” says WTMX/The MIX on-air personality Lisa Allen. “We first connected with Maria and her team at Lollapalooza 2022. Over the past 12 months, we hosted Zoom meetings and swapped tons of emails to come up with a plan to help increase their exposure and educate listeners about the work being done behind the scenes at a music festival like Lollapalooza. We’re honored to be working with this wonderful group of people doing such great work.”

Founded in 2016, Musically Fed identifies the opportunities, procures the resources, and coordinates all aspects of food handling, transport, and distribution, making it easy for promoters and performers to leave each city they visit with a lasting positive impact. Earlier this month, Musically Fed announced a partnership with Live Nation-Hewitt Silva aimed at revolutionizing the way unused catering is handled at upcoming LNHS events at the Hollywood Bowl.
